The Ambassador

H.E. MAXWELL A. AWIAGA

H.E. Maxwell Awaga obtained both his B.A. Hons and M.A Hons from the University of Ghana, Legon. He was recruited into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on 4th February, 1997 and therefore, has 26 years to his credit (as of 2023) in the Ministry. To further sharpen his diplomatic skills, Ambassador Awiaga was sent by the Ministry to Cairo to undertake a short certificate course in diplomacy at the Egyptian Institute of Diplomatic studies in May, 2007.

Since joining the Ministry, His Excellency Awiaga, has served in a number of Bureaux including, Estates, Policy Planning, Americas and Europe. Positions he also held in the Ministry included Deputy Director of Passports, Director of Middle East Bureau and Director of Asia and Pacific Bureau.

For his diplomatic duty tours prior to his appointment as Ghana’s Ambassador to Guinea Conakry with concurrent accreditation to Guinea- Bissau, H.E. the Ambassador successfully served in Ghana Missions in Brussels as Head of Chancery, Dakar as Deputy Head of Mission, Abuja (Briefly) as Deputy Head of Mission, Lagos as Consul-General, Kinshasa as Deputy Head of MissIon and Riyadh as Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Maxwell Awiaga was commissioned as Ambassador by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on 17th November, 2022, but following some uncertainties, he arrived in Conakry on 5th February, 2023 to assume duty. He presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mamadi Doumbouya on Monday, 13th March, 2023.
